
Scott H. Gan
Scott H. Gan has active Bankruptcy and Appellate practices and is the Chairman of the Appellate Section of Mesch, Clark & Rothschild. He has an extensive referral practice from general practitioners and corporate clients who engage him to represent them in the United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court in the filing of their appeals and to review the appeals filed by their general counsel.
He received his undergraduate degree in 1977 from the University of Arizona and his J.D. from the University of Arizona College of Law. Prior to joining the firm in 1986, he served in the Pima County Public Defender’s Office. He is a member of the State Bar of Arizona, the Pima County Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
Scott is a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy, business reorganization and appellate procedures. He has presented seminars on “Bankruptcy for Public Lawyers,” “Chapter 7 Liquidations,” “Payment/Adjustment of Taxes in Chapter 11,” and “Appellate Practices in Southern Arizona.” He has appeared as a lecturer for the State Bar of Arizona, the Pima County Bar Association, the Association of Public Attorneys, the Federal Bar Association, and the National Business Institute. In addition, he has served as a panel expert with the Arizona State Bar Association on Professionalism.
Scott has served as a member and served as Chairman of the State Bar of Arizona Appellate Practice Section, and is listed as one of the Best Lawyers in America in Appellate Law. He has also served his community as a member of the Greater Tucson Economic Council, as a board member of the Council House, a housing development financed by HUD for low income seniors, and as a member of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee of Congregation Anshei Israel.
He regularly participates in the Pima County Volunteer Lawyer program, representing debtors in bankruptcy on a pro bono basis. He is also involved in the High School Mentor Program sponsored by the State Bar of Arizona. In 2002, he received the Top 50 Pro Bono Attorneys of Arizona Award from the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services and Education. In 2005, he was named Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by the Arizona State Bar Association.
