Michael McGrath

Michael McGrath, a partner at Mesch, Clark & Rothschild, P.C., is a certified specialist in bankruptcy law. He has handled many significant cases in the bankruptcy courts. His practice emphasizes creditor and debtor rights and commercial and Real Estate transactions.

A Phoenix native, Michael received his J.D. from the University of Arizona College of Law.  Michael, who has practiced law since 1979, began his career clerking for the Chief Justices of the United States Bankruptcy and District Courts in Phoenix.  He has written numerous articles and regularly participates in seminars, workshops and lectures for bar associations and professional organizations in Arizona.  He is the author of the “Real Property Foreclosures” chapter in the Arizona Civil Remedies text. 

Michael serves as a Lawyer Delegate to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference and is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute.  He has served on the Bankruptcy Rules Committee for the District of Arizona, the Merit Selection Committee for the District's bankruptcy judges and the Bankruptcy Advisory Commission for the certification of bankruptcy specialists. Michael was a member of the Disciplinary Commission of the Arizona Supreme Court from 1994-2000, serving as chairman from 1999-2000.

In 2004, Michael was inducted into the American College of Bankrupty.  He is listed in the “Best Lawyers in America” and is an AV-rated attorney by Martindale Hubbell.  In 1998, he was awarded the Pro Bono Service Award by the Arizona Bar Foundation.  

He is active in both civic and professional organizations, including the Volunteer Lawyers Panel of Southern Arizona Legal Aid and the Tucson United Way.  He is the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the Tucson Urban League, a former president of the Tucson Conquistadores and the current President of the Tucson Conquistadores Foundation.
